Why film in South Africa? Great locations, a wonderful climate, a cheap rand giving value for money – and actors. Actors? South Africa has a host of talented, professional, well-trained and highly experienced actors, many of whom are managed by our company.

Established in 1979, our policy has always been to find the best and demand the best. Our company Manager, Penny Charteris, was brought up in England and trained at the famous Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. Having worked with luminaries such as Olivier, Guilgud and Redgrave, she learnt at an early age to recognize TALENT. Working for London's top theatre and television companies taught her to demand PROFESSIONALISM. Both these qualities we demand from the actors we manage.

In September 2006, in a major move, an amalgamation took place between ourselves and an established, mainly Afrikaans company, Thespians. Since then we have gone from strength to strength. Our combined team consists of myself, Elize Labuschagne, Sulette Thompson and Marius Meyer (the three directors of Thespians) aided by Funeka Mpela, Leigh Mkhondo and Linsy Pistorius. Although the two companies have merged and work together as a unit, each company, to an extent, keeps its own identity. Thespians handles its company of exceedingly talented and experienced artists whilst we oversee our small core of well established, high profile actors, to which we have recently added half a dozen talented youngsters. .

We are not a casting agency. As founding members of the South African Personal Managers Association we believe it is unethical to be both agent and employer. We take pride in discovering outstanding young actors, developing their talent and guiding their careers to the benefit of both the artist and the film industry.

You wish to film in South Africa? We can offer you established artists who have succeeded both in Southern Africa and overseas. Our actors have played leading and featured roles in a multitude of international and local feature films and on both local and innternational television. Recent examples include Bonnie Mbuli who has just played the female lead opposite Tim Robbins and Derek Luke in Philip Noyce’s “Hot Stuff”, Pamela Nomvete starring in Ramadam Suleyman’s “Zulu Love Letter” and Raoul Peck’s Rwandan epic “Sometimes in April” and Nathalie Boltt starring in Martin Enlen’s 'Der Weisse Afrikaner' ('Platinum') for - D & D Films,

Many of our actors have played in theatres throughout Europe, the UK and the United States whilst on the local scene most of our artists are household names. Our close association with one of London's most prominent actors’ agencies keeps us abreast of international developments.

Casting in South Africa? Contact us and expect integrity, professionalism and a hands on approach. We pride ourselves on our reputation as a well established forward looking company in which we, the agents, care deeply both for the actors we represent and for the industry we serve.
